  • Walterville Flood Update #4 - 01/18/22

Posted by Nicki Gorham on 1/18/2022 11:30:00 AM

    Hellow, Wildcat families!

We have made it through our first week of temporary remote learning. While no one would have seen this newest obstacle coming, I am so impressed by our community and our ability to bend and respond to each new challenge.

Today I have exciting news!  We have a firm timeline for transitioning to our new location! Beginning Monday, January 31, we will reunite in person at Mohawk Elementary, located at 91166 Sunderman Rd.

To accomplish this smoothly, the Walterville team will begin to set up our new spaces next week. This will mean we will not hold virtual learning on Monday, January 24, as our staff report to the new building for the first time. Please see the updated schedule for the next two weeks below.

    Week of January 17:

1/17: NO SCHOOL – MLK Day

1/18 – 21: Virtual learning, continuing current online class schedule

    Week of January 24:

1/24: NO SCHOOL – Staff transition to Mohawk location

1/25 – 1/28: Virtual learning, continuing current online class schedule

    Week of January 31:

1/31: All students transition to Mohawk location, returning to regular school schedule 8:35 am– 2:50 pm

I know this has been a continuation of the most challenging two-years for our community, but I am so thankful for each of our families. This community continues to impress me with their resilience and commitment to our students. I am grateful for your support as we transition to our new location so that we can continue the important in-person learning we are committed to offering.

Please continue to reach out with your questions, or if there are areas that we can help support you and your child(ren). Additionally, if you have not yet, please ensure that you register (or re-register) for transportation to the new location so that our partners in transportation can ensure that they build appropriate bus routes.

    Kindergarten Transportation Registration

    Grades 1 - 5 Transportation Registration

    With gratitude,

    Nicki

  • Walterville Flood Update #3 - 01/10/22

Posted by Nicki Gorham on 1/10/2022 4:15:00 PM

    Good evening Wildcats,

What a whirlwind this year continues to be! I have committed to keeping you as up-to-date as possible on the status of our building, as information becomes available. Tonight, I am pleased to share that the former Mohawk Elementary location, 91166 Sunderman Road, has been identified to host in-person learning for Walterville students. This location allows us to transition as a team to a full-service elementary school rather than potentially operate at separate locations.

In the coming days our timeline for transitioning to the new location will be made available, however, I hope that this news comes as a welcomed relief that online learning will indeed be temporary.

There are many moving parts that will take the coordination of a great number of individuals both on our team and at the district office but I know that as a whole we are resilient and committed to our students. One of the first things we want to reassure you is that all students will be offered transportation. To assist our teams in preparing new bus routes we will ask all families to register for transportation - even if your student is currently registered.

Please continue to share your questions through the Let’s Talk platform so that they can be shared with the members of our larger planning team as appropriate. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing your student’s smiling faces online tomorrow as we embark on another short-term online learning opportunity. Additionally, please feel free to continue to access the grab-and-go breakfast and lunch meals available from 11 am - 1 pm.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as this new plan takes shape for our students. It is an honor to serve the families of the Walterville community.

    Kindly,
    Nicki
