Come and meet your new teacher and drop off your school supplies on Thursday, September 1st.  This event will begin at 5:00pm and end at 6:00pm.  Families with students last names A-L will come at 5:00 and last names M-Z will come at 5:30.  Please enter through the designated door as indicated on the map LINKED HERE in the digital copy, and enclosed with this mailed letter. FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL!

The first day of school for 1st-5th graders is Wednesday, September 7th!

We will be doing a staggered start for Kindergarten students. This is an effective process for our kindergarten teachers to get to know the students in a smaller group setting, and mindfully assign students with particular teachers.

Wednesday, September 7th- Kindergarten students with last names starting with A-L.

Thursday, September 8th- Kindergarten students with last names starting with M-Z.

Friday, September 10th- No kinder students will attend school, class lists posted at 4:00pm .

SCHEDULE and MEALS:

Instruction begins at 8:35am.  If your child eats breakfast at school, they may arrive at 7:50am.  If your child does not eat breakfast at school and they do not ride the bus, they are to enter the building as close to 8:25am as possible. This year, students will return to entering at either the front entrance, or rear entrance inside the gate. Students should never arrive before 7:50am as there is no supervision.

Every student will be given the option of eating a free breakfast and lunch. Breakfast and lunch will be served in the cafeteria.

TRANSPORTATION:

Please check the district website for the 2022-2023 bus routes https://www.springfield.k12.or.us/Page/85 or call (541) 744-6373. Please take some time to review bus behavior and stops with your child.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES:

The school supply lists are attached HERE in both ENGLISH and SPANISH in the digital letter, and printed copies in both languages are included in this letter as well. School supplies for all grade levels are communal classroom supplies, please do not write your student’s name on the supplies.

VOLUNTEERS and VISITORS:  Springfield Public Schools opened our doors to volunteers who are vaccinated and pass a criminal background check in spring 2022.  This is still the current status of our school as we open this fall.  If you would like to be a volunteer this school year, please register yourself here https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/MzU2ODplbi1VUw==.  There will not be visitors allowed on campus during the school day, however, we look forward to having visitors attend after school events.

DRESS CODE:

Families and students, please remember that when getting ready for school, it  is a place to learn and play.  We ask students to come to school in shoes that are sturdy and safe (save your flip flops for weekends and after school) and clothes that are comfortable and appropriate inside the classroom and playground.  Hats and hoods are not to be worn inside the building.  Clothing bottoms should come to at least the mid thigh and shirts should cover the waist.  Thank you for your attention to this so our students are prepared to be successful learners.

We are looking forward to this coming school year and thank you so much for your support! Go Otters!
