The faces of the Springfield Board of Education have shifted as Tony Jobanek announced his resignation from the school board effective at the conclusion of the September 10, board meeting.
While the rest of the board, and the administrative team was sad to hear of his departure, all were understanding and supportive of his decision. During the meeting the remaining members made the decsion to appoint Naomi Raven, who had recently participated in the application and interview process that resulted in Vice Chair Webber's appointment.
"Director Jobanek will be missed, however we are all appreciative of Mrs. Raven's desire to serve our students and our community," said Chair Bessett of the selection. "She is a welcomed addition to the board, with a background as an educator and a parent in our district, her perspective will be of great value to our community."
Because the board had so recently posted and interviewed qualified candidates, the process to appoint Raven to the board was swift. Raven will finish out the remainder of Jobanek's term, which expires in June, 2019, and would be eligible for election should she choose to run.
