Learning Littles/ Pequeñines Encantados participate in first-ever graduation ceremony

[June 19, 2019]

The first ever Learning Littles Promotion ceremony took place at Maple Elementary School last week, complete with pre-school sized graduation caps, snacks and countless photos taken by proud parents.

A total of 11 Learning Littles graduates participated in the promotion.

The well-dressed students received printed diplomas and had a small celebration with their families in the library at Maple. Not only was the ceremony celebratory, it also marked the end of the children’s’ first year in a school setting.

The bilingual program, which has been operating in the district for more than a decade, is for children ages 0-5 who may not have the opportunity to attend preschool otherwise. The program takes place at various schools and educational facilities throughout the district on different days of the week.

Drop-ins are welcome and no pre-registration is required to participate.

Each Learning Littles session is between 60 and 90 minutes long, during which students are instructed in both English and Spanish. The drop-in playgroup provides open play time, age-appropriate games, a and a snack. It also allows young learners to interact with their peers before kindergarten and parents also have the opportunity to connect with other parents as well as district staff in both English and Spanish.
