21st Annual Huerta/Chavez Celebration
This year’s celebration of two great human rights leaders, Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, will take place in-person at Hamlin Middle School on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 5:00 pm- 7:30 pm. The annual Dolores Huerta / Cesar Chavez Celebration is hosted by Springfield Public Schools, together with the Springfield Alliance for Equity and Respect (SAfER)
Entertainment at the bilingual event will include music by Springfield High School's Mariachi del Sol, singers from the Guy Lee Elementary dual-language immersion program and the Ballet Folklorico Colibri. Delicious refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend this free community event. The celebration also highlights student artwork and writing.
Students of all ages, from across the district, have been invited to submit creative projects inspired by the lives of Huerta and Chavez to be included in a gallery of student work.
The artwork/essays relate to the theme “If you really want to make a friend, go to someone's house and eat with them…the people who give you their food give you their heart.” Cesar Chavez
