Everyone could use a little more kindness

What is World Kindess Day?

World Kindness Day is a holiday that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. The purpose of this day is to help everyone understand that kindness is what binds us all together. This understanding has the power to bridge the gap between nations. What began as an effort from the World Kindness Movement at a Tokyo conference in 1998 is now a global movement reminding everyone of the power of kindness.

This year, World Kindness Day falls on November 13. In an effort to infuse a little more kindness into our surroundings, SPS will be sharing daily themes and encouraging our community to join in and spread kindness throughout our area.

In the days leading up to World Kindness Day the SPS social media channels will feature themed activities that everyone can do to show kindness. We hope that the community will take a moment to slow down as we head into the hustle and bustle of the winter holiday season and set the tone of kindness.

Community members will be encouraged to share their kindness ideas and activities for others to see as the week progresses.

Locally the Spreading Kindness Campaign has a collection of resources for those wishing help kindness grow.

Individuals interested in a “Choose Kindness” lawn sign can contact the SPS communications team to request one, while supplies last.
