SPS Family update: Sept. 14

Good afternoon, SPS, 

We would like to begin by acknowledging that this message finds many in our system impacted by the ongoing Holiday Farm Fire in the McKenzie River Valley in different ways. Our SPS community is hurting but is also working hard to provide support to those who are supporting us and to those in our community who need it the most.  

Everyone at SPS recognizes the increased excitement and stress that the back-to-school season brings each year, and the complex layers our district is navigating this year simply elevates those emotions for everyone. We would like to take a moment and thank each and every individual in our SPS community for the grace, patience and flexibility that has been displayed as these unprecedented events continue to unfold.

Our staff are anxious to reconnect with students and we know families are eager for additional details regarding things such as class assignments and finalized student schedules. As evacuation orders are adjusted, teams and buildings will have the space to refocus their efforts on information regarding student-specific details. This information will be sent directly to families from our teachers and building leaders.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting our students, and for creating a community that we are proud to serve.

Below please find important updates for this week.

Technology:

Unhealthy air continues to blanket the area as a result of local wildfires, prompting SPS to make adjustments to our student technology and supply distribution. We will continue to monitor air quality conditions. However, based on current air quality projections, this week’s technology pickup will take place as follows. 

High School: Thursday, Sept. 17 – Friday, Sept. 18

-   THS/SHS: 11 am – 7 pm

-   A3: 9 am – 4 pm

-   GHS: 2 – 5 pm

Middle School: Friday, Sept. 18

11 am – 6 pm

Thurston Middle School students still needing their devices and materials will pick them up at Thurston High School as fire response crews are currently staged at Thurston Middle School.

Elementary: Friday, Sept. 18

9 – 11 am, and 3 – 7 pm at your home school

SPSOnline students NEW to Springfield Public Schools this year: Thursday, Sept. 17 – Friday, Sept. 18

2 – 5 pm, Brattain School building, 425 10th Street, Springfield, OR

WiFi Pick-up: Thursday, Sept. 17 – Friday, Sept. 18

-   9 am – 5 pm, 180 D Street, Springfield, OR

Meal Service:

SPS Elementary Schools (with the exception of Walterville, Thurston Elementary and Ridgeview Elementary) along with Agnes Stewart Middle School will be serving meals to children 0 – 18, regardless of whether they are SPS students or not.

Buenas tardes familias de SPS,

Nos gustaría comenzar reconociendo que este mensaje encontrará muchos en nuestra comunidad impactados por el incendio de Holiday Farm en el McKenzie River Valley de diferentes maneras. Nuestra comunidad de SPS está sufriendo, pero también está trabajando duro para proporcionar apoyo a todos los que nos apoyan y a todos en nuestra comunidad que más lo necesitan. 

Todos en las Escuelas de Springfield reconocen el aumento de la emoción y estrés que la temporada de regreso a clases trae cada año, y por todas las complejas etapas que nuestro distrito está navegando este año simplemente eleva esas emociones para todos. Nos gustaría tomar un momento y darle las gracias a cada persona en nuestra comunidad de SPS por la gracia, paciencia y flexibilidad que han demostrado mientras navegamos por estos momentos sin precedentes. 

Nuestro personal está ansioso por volver a reconectarse con los estudiantes y sabemos que las familias están ansiosas por obtener más detalles adicionales con respecto a cosas como las tareas y los horarios finalizados de los estudiantes. A medida que se ajusten las órdenes de evacuación, los equipos y los edificios tendrán el espacio para volver a enfocar sus esfuerzos en la información relacionada con los estudiantes. 

Gracias por su continua colaboración en el apoyo a nuestros estudiantes, y por crear una comunidad a la que estamos orgullosos de servir.

Technologia:

Debido a la mala calidad del aire por causa de los incendios forestales, las Escuelas Públicas de Springfield cambiaron las fechas de distribución de tecnología estudiantil y suministros. Continuaremos monitoreando las condiciones de la calidad del aire. Sin embargo, según las proyecciones actuales de la calidad del aire, la recogida de tecnología de esta semana se llevará a cabo de la siguiente manera.

High School: Jueves, 17 de septiembre – viernes, 18 de septiembre 

  • THS/SHS: 11 am– 7 pm
  • A3: 9 am – 4 pm
  • GHS: 2–  5 pm

Middle School: Viernes, 18 de septiembre

  • 11 am – 6 pm

Los estudiantes de la Escuela Thurston Middle que aún necesitan sus dispositivos y materiales los recogerán en la Escuela Thurston High, ya que los equipos de emergencia de incendios se encuentran actualmente en la Escuela Thurston Middle. 

Primaria: viernes, 18 de septiembre

 

  • 9 – 11 am, y 3 – 7 pm en su escuela de su vecindario

 

Estudiantes de SPS Online NUEVOS en las Escuelas Públicas de Springfield este año: jueves, 47 de septiembre  –  viernes, 18 de septiembre

Distribución de WiFi: jueves, 17 de septiembre  – viernes, 18 de septiembre

Servicio de comidas:

Las escuelas primarias de SPS (con la excepción de las escuelas Walterville, Thurston y Ridgeview) junto con la escuela media Agnes Stewart servirán comidas para los niños de 0 a 18 años, sin importar si son estudiantes de SPS o no.
