SPS food services staff have served more than 135,000 meals to students since mid-March
The last several weeks have been challenging for students, staff and the entire community. But there’s also been some commendable work taking place, including several SPS staff members who have helped to ensure that students are fed - regardless of whether school buildings are open.
Since mid-March Springfield Public Schools Nutrition Services staff have served more than 135,000 meals to students in our community. That’s including breakfast and lunch meals at nine different locations
The need for the program to be maintained is evident, and SPS plans to serve hot to-go meals into the summer, and with the help of Food for Lane County will be able to offer an expanded distribution location at Walterville Elementary School. A total of nine SPS sites will offer hot to-go meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
