Graduation ceremonies will look and feel a lot different this year, but SPS is determined to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our seniors!
With 563 students set to graduate this year, SPS is holding individualized graduation ceremonies for each student to have the opportunity to wear their cap and gown, hear their name called and walk across a stage to receive their diploma. In an effort to honor our graduates’ celebrations and also adhere to current health and safety protocols, a few family members or friends will be able to join, too.
In addition, the district has partnered with a video production company to put together a video for each of the four high school’s graduating classes. The videos will be complete with valedictorian and classmate speeches, traditional commencement moments, student-shared memories and more.
Each high school will hold individual ceremonies in early June, with a produced video being released in mid-June. Although the celebration is different than ever before, SPS wants to ensure that its graduating seniors feel recognized and celebrated – and to that end, staff will work to honor them.
Congratulations, class of 2020! We know this is not how you planned to end the school year. Our hearts are with you, and we are so proud of your hard work, dedication and perseverance to get to this point.
