Four SPS Teachers Win Selco Creative Educator Grants
Four SPS teachers were selected as recipients of the 2024 Selco Creative Educator Grants, which help teachers fund their creative class projects and help support finding innovative ways to teach students in our district. SPS recipients are:
Tabitha Ramirez (Ridgeview Elementary School): Her project is titled “Inclusive Reading: Books for ALL,” will provide books in students' native language and foster cultural representation within the classroom.
John Sperry (Hamlin Middle School): In support of “Loggers Live Broadcasting Project,” which aims to produce a high-quality broadcast channel for teaching students how to become content creators and providing meaningful information to students, staff, families, and the community in general.
Pauline Pham (Springfield High School): To support “SHS Daily Grind - A Student-Led Enterprise,” the project fuels students with fresh brews and cool vibes, while teaching them skills in restaurant entrepreneurship, retail, marketing, business, customer service, and finance.
Danielle Schneider (Springfield High School): Grant will support “Pathways to Reading Proficiency,” which aims to enhance reading proficiency by providing high-interest, low-reading-level books tailored to engage diverse students, foster a love for reading, and build a supportive community of readers.
