Superintendent Hamilton Announces Resignation
After leading Springfield Public Schools for nearly seven years, Superintendent Todd Hamilton has announced his resignation, effective February 28.
Superintendent Hamilton shared the following message with staff and families:
I am writing to share my decision to resign as Superintendent of Springfield Public Schools, effective February 28.
I am proud of the progress we have made over the past seven years. From the start, my focus has centered on the immediate and long-term good of Springfield’s students and learning community and I leave the district having achieved meaningful progress in academics, infrastructure, and community partnerships.
These gains include the highest graduation rates in the district’s history; adoption of math and language arts materials that are improving achievement; expanded music, physical education, library, and career and technical education opportunities; and the careful stewardship of pandemic relief funds to support students while making lasting capital improvements to learning environments.
We also strengthened supports for students and families through the addition of family resource liaisons; formalized and expanded a culture that welcomes all learners; and built stronger partnerships with Willamalane, the City of Springfield, and Springfield Utility Board, creating new opportunities for student engagement beyond the school day and year.
Thank you to all who have contributed to the progress of our district and to the daily work of supporting students. Everyone who serves our students, whether in classrooms, cafeterias, buses, offices, or facilities, plays a vital role in their success. I am deeply grateful for your commitment, compassion, and professionalism. It has been my honor to serve alongside you.
Sincerely,
Todd Hamilton
The District remains fully operational, and school and District leadership teams continue their work in support of students, staff, and families.

Springfield Public Schools remains committed to maintaining stability in schools and ensuring continued focus on student learning and support during this leadership transition.
