SPS Launches Educational Equity Advisory Committee

SPS Launches Educational Equity Advisory Committee
Allison McGowan

Springfield Public Schools has formed an Educational Equity Advisory Committee (EEAC) to provide insight to the Superintendent and School Board on the educational equity impacts of District policy on historically underserved students.

The committee was formed as a result of Oregon Senate Bill 732, which mandates the formation of EEACs in all state school districts.

The committee is made up of parents, students, staff members and community members. The EEAC will meet quarterly and present their insight to the Superintendent and School Board.

In addition to giving recommendations on specific policies, the EEAC will examine and advise on the climate of the District and schools and issues that may impact historically underserved students.

Educational equity is a key focus of Springfield Public Schools as part of its commitment to Every Student, Every Day.
