Springfield Public Schools Indian Parent Committee

Springfield Public Schools Indian Parent Committee
Allison McGowan

Springfield Public Schools (SPS) is committed to continuing strong, meaningful relationships with Native families and tribal communities. As part of this commitment, SPS will convene the Indian Parent Committee during the current school year as a Title VI federal grant program advisory committee.

The Indian Parent Committee provides an opportunity for Native parents, guardians, students, tribal representatives, and community members to share feedback and guidance with District administrative leaders. Together, committee members help shape priorities, goals, and activities that support Native youth and improve educational outcomes across Springfield Public Schools.

The Indian Parent Committee will:

  • Advise SPS on the use of Title VI federal grant funds
  • Help set priorities, goals, and activities that support Native students
  • Collaborate with SPS staff to strengthen programs and opportunities for Native youth
  • Review and approve the District’s annual Title VI grant application (voting members)

Meeting dates and times for this school year have not yet been established. Meetings are anticipated to take place at least every other month.
