The Springfield School District Board of Directors continues to move forward in its search for the district’s next interim superintendent with support from Grundmeyer Leader Services, the district’s selected search firm.

As part of the search process, the district invited staff, families, students and community members to participate in a community stakeholder survey to identify the qualities and characteristics most important in the district’s next leader. The survey was open April 21 through May 8 and generated 561 responses.

Grundmeyer Leader Services compiled the survey feedback into a report highlighting key themes and desired qualifications identified by stakeholders. The report will help guide the Springfield School District Board of Directors throughout the interview and selection process.

The application window for the interim superintendent position closed May 10. A total of 16 candidates applied for the position, including seven candidates from outside Oregon.

The Board of Directors reviewed applications during a May 20 executive session to determine which candidates would advance to semi-final interviews, scheduled for May 27. Finalist interviews are scheduled for June 9.

The district will continue to share updates with the community as the search process moves forward.
