Springfield High School woodworking students are taking part in a program that provides practical community support while learning valuable trade skills.
The St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County "Shed-ucation" program partnered with Lane Educational Service District (ESD) and Lane Workforce Partnership to enlist area CTE instructors to teach students how to build eight by eight-foot sheds that people living in SVDP's mobile home parks can use to store their belongings as they make strides towards housing stability.
Here, two SHS woodworking students and woodworking CTE instructor Scott Touchette share what they've learned and how important taking part in community-uplifting projects is.
