Springfield Public Schools has received the Oregon Department of Education’s (ODE) final order in Case No. 2024-18 regarding Division 22 standards compliance.

ODE identified a compliance issue related to K-5 science and social science instructional materials. Prior to the final order, the District had already acknowledged the need for improvement, worked directly with ODE, and developed an Instructional Materials Action Plan that was approved by ODE.

Additionally, ODE found the District was in compliance in the areas of human sexuality education and physical education requirements.

Throughout the process, Springfield Public Schools cooperated fully with ODE and provided documentation, schedules, curriculum materials, and implementation plans as part of the investigation.

“This process reflects how accountability systems are intended to work,” said Acting Superintendent Jodi O’Mara. “Concerns were raised, reviewed carefully, and addressed through corrective action and ongoing improvement efforts. We remain committed to transparency, continuous improvement, and strong educational opportunities for all students.”

The District continues implementation of its Instructional Materials Action Plan to strengthen K-5 science and social science instructional alignment and ensure continued compliance with state standards.

Springfield Public Schools remains focused on supporting students, staff, and families through stable, student-centered operations, collaborative governance, and continuous improvement.
