Springfield Public Schools is excited to announce that Jodi O’Mara officially began her role with the District on Monday, March 2, 2026 as acting superintendent. O’Mara joins SPS with a long history of educational excellence in Oregon and a strong commitment to student success, community engagement, and building systems that support educators and families.

“I’m honored to join Springfield Public Schools and its strong tradition of putting students first,” O’Mara said. “I look forward to partnering with staff, families, and the community during these next four months to continue building on that foundation.”

The Board of Directors appointed O’Mara as acting superintendent on February 23, 2026. She brings more than 30 years of experience in Oregon Public Education and a commitment to student success, equitable opportunity and strong community partnerships, last serving as superintendent of Mapleton School District.

O’Mara will serve as acting superintendent for the remainder of the school year. She will look to build on improving student outcomes, including the District’s highest-ever graduation rate, improving assessment outcomes, and recognition of outstanding educators across the district.

In the coming weeks, O’Mara will visit schools and departments and talk with students and staff to learn more about the programs and initiatives that support Springfield students.
