MLK Celebration 2025: Peace = Justice
The celebration to recognize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his commitment to justice and non-violence will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025. The annual event, which highlight's Dr. King's social values in our community, is now in its 27th year.
The MLK march will start at 1 p.m. at the Springfield Justice Center. The march winds its way to Springfield High School where a student art reception begins at 1:30 p.m. The music and awards ceremony runs from 2 - 3:30 p.m. in the SHS auditorium.
The event is wheelchair accessible and will have Spanish interpretation.
This year's theme is "Peace = Justice. True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice." Each year Springfield students submit essays, artwork, poems, videos, or any other type of art form relating to the theme of the event.
The Springfield Alliance for Equity and Respect (SAfER) organizes the event, with co-sponsorships from various community organizations, including Springfield Public Schools.
All community members and visitors are invited and encouraged to attend this free event.
