Interim Superintendent Process Underway; Survey Open

Interim Superintendent Process Underway; Survey Open
Brian Richardson

The process of selecting an interim superintendent to lead the district for the 2026–27 school year is officially underway. The Springfield School Board hired a professional search firm to guide the search process.

Community voice is an important part of this work. Families, staff, students, and community members are invited to share what qualities and characteristics matter most in the District’s next leader through a brief, anonymous survey. This feedback will help guide the discussion as the board reviews candidates.

The survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes to complete, and is available in multiple languages. The survey closes on May 8.

The search will follow this approximate timeline:

  • May 10 - Application period closes
  • May 20 - School board reviews candidates
  • May 27 - Semi-finalist screening
  • June 9 - Finalist interviews

The Board of Directors will use community input and the outcomes of the selection process to identify an interim superintendent who can effectively support Springfield Public Schools during this transition.

All Springfield community members are invited to take a few minutes to share their input by May 8. We will continue to share updates as the process continues.
