Facilities and Custodial Teams Make the Grade in Summer Months

When is a summer break not a summer break? When you work for a school district facilities and custodial department!
Summer brings opportunities for the completion of improvement projects across the District. Projects completed during the 2024 summer months include:
- Conversion of THS and SHS athletic fields to artificial turf. Read more.
- HVAC upgrade projects are completed and all of our schools now have air conditioning! The air in our schools will now be cleaner and more comfortable for all students and staff to focus on teaching and learning.
- The main gym floors at THS and SHS have been refinished, ready for PE instruction and champion competition.
- Roof replacement at Centennial Elementary and roof repair of ice storm damage at Thurston Middle School.
- Custodial staff waxed floors and made schools shiny and clean to start the year.
- Dishwashers replaced in the kitchens of Yolanda, Walterville and Brattain Campus.
- Installation of new ALICE gates at SHS and THS, enhancing student safety.
- Construction of a berm at Walterville Elementary to protect against future flood damage.
- Completing work orders at all schools.
