At its August 26, 2024 Work Session, the Springfield Public Schools Board of Directors selected Heather Quaas-Annsa to fill the vacant Position 2 seat. The Board unanimously approved her appointment following nearly two hours of candidate interviews.

Quaas-Annsa is passionate about ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education that prepares them for a successful future. While on the Board, she plans to promote equity and inclusion, enhance student achievement, support educators, and strengthen community engagement. Her term expires on June 30, 2025.

Prior to her appointment, Quaas-Annsa served as a member of the District Budget Committee and Education Equity Advisory Committee. She’s also a member of the Lane County Poverty and Homelessness Board and Equity Program Advisory Board.

Quaas-Annsa immediately took the oath of office following her selection at the August 26 meeting. The District held a ceremonial oath of office at its Board meeting on September 9, 2024, formally welcoming Quaas-Annsa to the Board.

The Board also recognized and honored the service of Board Director Dr. Emilio Hernandez. Hernandez resigned from Position 2 in August after seven years serving on the Springfield Public Schools Board of Directors.
