Board of Education Declares an Emergency Due to Damage From Ice Storm

In an unanimous vote, the Springfield Public Schools Board of Education approved a declaration of emergency following the mid-January ice storm.
The storms caused widespread damage to facilities throughout the District. Facilities crews have worked through the day since the event started to address hazards. Damage assessment will continue in the coming days as power returns to more and more schools.
The emergency declaration provides flexibility in managing resources to help address damage.
