2024-25 School Year - Everything You Need to Know
Get ready, get set....as one school year comes to a close, the groundwork is being laid for the next. Here's your one-stop-shop checklist to get your family ready for next year.
Enrollment and the Annual Student Review - Every year, families are required to provide proof of address as they complete the Annual Student Review in ParentVue. This is also a good time to update items like contact or health information.
Bus Registration - Eligible students who will be riding the bus need to register each year. Registration is now open! Parents of registered bus riders will receive an email invitation to download the free Stopfinder app with information about your student's bus schedule at anytime from anywhere.
School Supplies - The 2024-25 school supply lists are here! We've partnered with TeacherLists again this year, providing the option of one-click online shopping.
Student Health - Immunizations: To register for school each year, you must be able to show that your child has received at least the first dose in any required vaccine series or the proper documentation to claim an exemption. The deadline for Oregon students to receive all required vaccinations is the third Wednesday in February, every year. Your health care provider or the Springfield Schools Health Center can help you determine which vaccines your student needs before the February deadline.
Student Medications: Families needing to check in medications to their school should plan to do so in person during the first days of the school year. Only medications that are needed while at school are allowed (no vitamins or once a day medications that can be taken at home.)
- Medications must be brought in by the parent/guardian in the original container.
- Prescription medications must have RX label, including inhalers and Epi-pens. If inhalers need to be carried on the student at all times, a doctor's note indicating that that student is capable of safe, self-administration should be provided to the school.
- Medications must have appropriate instructions on the bottle. The school is not allowed to give medications for off-label uses or different dosages than recommended.
2024-25 Academic Calendar - The 2024-25 Academic Calendar was approved by the Springfield Board of Education at its May 13, 2024 and updated to honor the terms of union contracts approved at the June 10 meeting. The 2024-25 calendar includes a change to the week of Thanksgiving for elementary schools. *A3, The Academy of Arts and Academics, has its own calendar.
Breakfast and Lunch - Breakfast and lunch are free for every SPS student every school day! Download the MealViewer app to see all of our menus and choices.
