Transfers
At Springfield Public Schools, we offer an excellent core education for our students. Our schools are full of opportunities to learn, grow and excel. We welcome applicants from within-district and other districts as long as space permits.
Transfer windows are open to incoming K-11 students.
The best time to apply from another district is in January. Forms for High Priority 2025-26 transfers will be available the last week of December 2024 and accepted January 7 - January 25 at 5 p.m.
For those who miss the January transfer window, the next opportunity to apply will begin March 1.
Families may submit their transfer applications for the 2025-2026 school year beginning in January 2025. Forms for 2025-2026 were made available the last week of December 2024. Applications are also accepted during the Phase 2 Transfer window beginning March 1 until June 25.
If applications are approved through a High Priority or Phase 2 transfer, the student will not need to reapply the following year unless they are moving to a different level (e.g., elementary to middle school) or has changed addresses. Returning transfer students should review acceptance letters for clarification.
Phase 2 Transfer Period
Transfer applications will be accepted for Phase 2 Transfers beginning March 1 until June 25.
For all transfer phases applicants are placed on a tiered priority list:
Within-District:
- Returning senior to the currently attending school.
- Returning student to current school.
- Sibling of a student attending the next school year at the requested school.
- New applicants.
Into-District:
- Returning senior to the currently attending school.
- Returning student to current school.
- Returning student to the District (new school).
- Sibling of a student attending the next school year at the requested school.
- Sibling of a student attending the next school year within the District.
- New applicants.
Within-District transfer requests will be granted as long as space is available at the requested school and grade level. Into-District transfers will be approved as long as the requested school and grade level have space and there is no within-District waiting list.
High Priority and Phase 2 transfers are valid until it is time for the student to change to a different level (for example, from elementary to middle or from middle to high).
All transfer students must reapply if their family moves from the address given for the original transfer.
All students who receive a school year only transfer approval must reapply the following year.
Reapplying
Students granted a High Priority or Phase 2 transfer may continue in the assigned school without reapplying.
However, students must reapply when changing from elementary to middle or middle to high school or if they move from the originally approved address during the school year.
Transfers will not be considered to participate in extracurricular or athletic activities.
Forms
Transfer forms can be found on the District Forms Library.

Completed transfer request forms may be submitted to any Springfield School building or the District Office, 640 A Street, Springfield, OR 97477, by personal delivery, regular mail, email or fax. See instructions.
