    Mission Statement
    The District Nurse is committed to educational excellence and enhances the educational experience by the removal or modification of health related barriers to students and by the promotion of optimal levels of wellness. This is accomplished within the framework of the nursing process, which includes assessments, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, intervention and evaluations.
    General Functions
    The District Nurse assumes responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and/or referral activities for students in the school district. The District Nurse also serves as a direct link among physicians, families and community agencies to assure access and continuity of health care for students; provides relevant instruction, counseling and guidance to students, parents and staff concerning health related issues. The District Nurse also works cooperatively with Lane County Public Health in the provision of public health services to students and schools.
