Dear Maple Parents and Families,
We miss you and hope you are all safe and well! Our staff is excited to reconnect with their students on Monday, April 13.
We are working quickly to meet the needs of our Springfield School Community. The district has sent out communication and worked with families to gain technology for our distance learning. Below is some important information.
MEALS – Maple continues to serve FREE breakfast/ hot lunch daily to Springfield children ages 1-18. Students pick up two bags with two milks each visit. One is a hot lunch, the other is breakfast for the following day. We also continue to have our Panera bread and Costco donations on Monday and Tuesday. Our wonderful Mary and Martha enjoy seeing students. It makes them feel good to feed them!
STUDENT ITEM PICK UP – Student items are bagged and ready for pick up. Many of you picked up on Thursday and Friday. We have additional pick up times on Monday and Tuesday from 3:00 – 6:00 pm in the staff parking lot on 23rd and G street.
DISTANCE LEARNING - We are working to keep kids and families connected to the school community and to learning. Our goal is to stay connected, engage in reading and math lessons, and enjoy a few other activities. We are trying to keep kids exercising and staying healthy. Click on this schedule to learn the times for your grade level virtual meeting and class times. We are NOT attempting to replace ‘regular school’ and turn parents/guardians into teachers! We are NOT expecting students to sit in front of a computer from 8:35 - 2:50!
TECHNOLOGY - If you still need to check out a district technology device, click here. Due to the large number of devices needed throughout our SPS system of 10,500 students, here are the parameters for devices:
- high school students each get individual devices;
- 2nd - 8th grade get one device for every two kids in the household;
- KG-1st grade get one iPad for each child.
The district continues to work with internet providers to open up hot spots and make the internet available to our students. The Family Technology Support line phone number is 541-726-3406.
