  • Inclement Weather and Safety Concerns

Posted by Kristin Woodford on 2/13/2023

    Good afternoon Yolanda Families,

Just wanted to quickly share that in case we end up with NO SCHOOL due to snow/ice tomorrow (February 14), we will plan for class parties to be on the next school day.

Also, please check the SPS District website, news stations and radio stations for any information about a school delay or closure.

I wanted to share that we have had several close calls with our crossing guards while helping students cross before and after school.
Please remember to slow down, stop at stop signs and watch for Mrs. Kathy to direct traffic while at the intersection in front of school.

Lastly, Monday February 20th is Presidents' Day and a non-school day for students.

    Many thanks,

    Kari Isham

Welcome to February! Just a reminder there is no school for students this Friday February 3rd. It is a teacher prep day for elementary schools.

Friday February 10th & February 24th are Early Release days. Students are out at 12:30.

February 20th is a no school day in observance of Presidents Day.

Yolanda will have a Polar Plunge team this year! We will have a visit February 2nd from the Special Olympics Brry Bear to share the event with students. Teachers will be sending home information if for families if you are interested in joining our Yolanda Team. The plunge will be Saturday, February 18th in Eugene. All funds raised benefit our local Special Olympic Athletes.

Our Lost and Found box is overflowing! If your student/s are missing coats or sweatshirts please come by after school and take a look. We are asking all students to wear long sleeves outside with the weather being so cold.

Friendship week- this year we are expanding on Valentine's Day and will have a whole friendship week. PTO does support our class parties on Feb 14th with juice and cookies. They will be sending out a request for donations for the classes soon. You are always welcome to email our PTO team at yolandaelementarypto@gmail.com if you have questions.

February 24th PTO is hosting BINGO night for all families. It will be from 6-7:30. There will be pizza and drinks for sale (cash only), prizes and raffle baskets and lots of FUN for all.  If you are interested in being a volunteer please reach out to PTO.

We appreciate your partnership with us as we get to welcome your students to campus every day. As always, if you have a question please reach out to your teachers and the office staff.
    Many thanks,

    Kari Isham Skelton
